It’s funny how much emphasis we put on birthdays and new years. Each one is really just one day later than the day before. But we are meaning-making creatures, and these markers in time can be as significant as we choose for them to be.
A new day, a new year, a new decade—January 1, 2020 is a perfect opportunity in time to stop and reflect, to make a change, to put a stake in the ground.
Goals and resolutions are great, but sometimes it can be harder to identify some of the deeper issues than it is to decide how much weight you want to lose.
I’m not focused on all of these questions, but I am thinking through two or three as I try to set the tone for 2020:
So what are you declaring over 2020 for yourself? Are you going to be a “wandering generality” or a “meaningful specific”?
Yes, January 1st is just one more day in a long line of days we’ve existed, but it doesn’t haven’t to be just another day if you choose to use it as a mile marker for living intentionally.
